But I don't only care about purses and nail polish and ridiculously well-dressed people. I recently watched "Glass," a docume
ntary about Philip Glass. The movie featured many famous faces (Woody Allen is a little baby cutie) and also introduced me to Chuck Close. He's an American artist whose portraits and photos fascinate me. The image I posted above is a close up of one of his portraits. These intricate little details ripe with color make up a fraction of a whole. The darks and lights are artfully placed to trick the viewer into thinking that they are the hallows of someone's cheek or the shadow under someone's eye. Genius.I'm starting my new job soon. I am the managing editor of The Daily Texan, which basically means I see all of the content before it goes to print and manage the entire staff (minus editorial, of course). I've never been more excited for anything in my life. I'm putting this down on...screen...so I can look back on it in a few months when I'm stressed out and crying at all hours of the day so I can remember that at one time this job made me truly happy. I'm kidding. Sort of.
